Prevention

Our prevention services are designed for families who notice that their child is beginning to struggle, and they are unsure of what to do next. The key to getting your family back on track is support. The first step in the prevention process is to meet with a consultant to assess the needs of the entire family system. Prepare To Bloom consultants are familiar with a wide range of resources and customize each plan to meet the goals of the individual family.

We feel especially accomplished when we can prevent teens and young adults from continuing on a path that may lead to parents having to make more difficult decisions. We are proud of the role we play in preventing the scenarios which lead to the necessary use of our more crisis-oriented services.

In Home Family Check Up: $300

Please let me help you identify the professionals, the tools, and the resources you need to prevent your child's life from spiraling out of control. The In Home Family Check Up includes...

Family Support

This service is for those families who are working with a group of local professionals and are finding they need some sort of change in the help they are getting. All families need support in some way or another. Family Support is a great first step in getting back on track.

Our Family Support services start with an in home assessment as a way to understand the history and the struggles your child, tween, teen, young adult, and family are facing. We work together with the team of professionals you have assembled to understand the work that has been done up to this point.

Once all of the information has been put together, we begin to create a family support plan. This is a unique plan to help address your family's struggles including skills that can be used in the moment to divert a heated situation, as well as ways to implement rules that have a purpose in your home based on your family's values. From there we are available to you via the phone in the moment as a pillar of support. Please note that this is not a replacement for calling 911.

Placement

Our Therapeutic and Educational Placement Services are designed for families who are finding little to no success with their current treatment team. This may consist of therapists, psychiatrists, tutors, school support staff, and/or other professionals. For these families, the process starts with in-home assessment. We will meet with all parents and guardians in the home to discuss how things got to be where they are today. We will also gather information from the treatment team and spend time with the client to glean their perspective on the situation.

Once the assessment is complete, we will present recommendations to the parents and/or guardians and educate families about the options. Parents are asked to narrow their choices by calling and visiting programs prior to selecting the best fit options for the child and family. Prepare To Bloom will assist with each step along the way and stay with you through the duration of the selected program.

Program placement is a service we offer that can span many months. You will have a single point of contact, your own dedicated consultant.

After Care

After care is designed for clients and families who have just completed a placement in some type of residential setting. These families are now looking for a follow-up setting that will help cement the recently learned skills and allow for further growth prior to coming home.

It is not necessary to have taken advantage of Prepare To Bloom's Placement service to benefit from this service. Consultants at Prepare To Bloom are experts at assessing the situation no matter what program or programs the youth has graduated from. We will meet with all parents and guardians in the home, in our offices, on the phone, or in the field to discuss what progress has been made so far and what still needs work. We will also gather information from the treatment team and spend time with the client to glean their perspective on the situation.

Home Planning

Prepare To Bloom's Home Planning service is for families who have previously placed their tween, teen, or young adult at a residential program and are ready to transition home to the San Francisco Bay area. This can be a very exciting time. It can also be nerve wracking when trying to choreograph all of the professionals, programs, and family members involved such that all of the pieces are in place for a successful transition. Prepare To Bloom can help ensure that all of the appropriate resources are in place. From teachers to therapists, psychiatrists to program staff and beyond, everything will be where it should be prior to the transition.

We will work with your current treatment team, ideally a few months prior to the transition home. We will also meet with your child either via phone, Skype, in person, at home, or in the field and hear what is important to them in this transition. With all of this information pulled together, we can have all of the home resources put together with the child's schedule prior to their arrival. The opportunity for a successful transition grows dramatically when there is a solid home plan in place. Choose this service and Prepare To Bloom.

Shayna Abraham, M.A.

Owner, Lead Consultant

Shayna Abraham holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialty in Eating Disorders from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She has completed additional course work in chemical dependency at California State University, East Bay. Prior to full time consulting, she worked therapeutically with a wide range of clients including adults, adolescents, children and families.

Shayna understands that each family she works with has unique and often complex challenges. Her intent is to meet each family where they are and guide them to reach their individually defined goals.
